Who we are
G/L Accounting Solutions is located in Columbus, OH. We base our business philosophy on the 3 i's we borrowed from Dean Jeff Brown at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign's Gies College of Business: "Innovation, Integrity and Inclusion". With Small businesses, Religious Organizations, Non-profits, Special Projects, Clubs and Societies in mind, we set out on a mission to provide accounting and bookkeeping to the small business owner and non-profits at a tiny fraction of what these entities would be paying if they were to hire a large accounting firm or a full time Accountant. Over 95% of our customers have referred us to family and friends.
We help our clients avoid costly tax and business errors by helping them make "informed" decisions, and by steering them away from the common errors that easily besets businesses.
"As the complexity and the subjectivity of judgments increase,
the inherent precision in the financial statements decreases,
which is a fact that investors should be told"
-Robert K. Herdman, Chief Accountant of the SEC, January 2002 Speech to the Financial Executives Institute
We make our clients understand why every business needs an accountant or bookkeeper
Part of being a responsible business owner is hiring the services of an independent
accountant or bookkeeper, for the following reasons:
(a) To free you so you can focus on your business, religious house, non-profit, Club/ society and
special projects.
(b) To protect yourself, business, or organization from "house rats” [employee/contractor and
internal thefts].
(c) To detect anomalies in your inventory, sales, donations/offerings or services before they kill your
business, Church/Religious house, non-profit, society or club.
(d) To help identify and secure important documents for future audits and legal proceedings.
(e) To help prepare monthly financial statements for crucial Tax filings, loans and lines of credits.
Lenders are not particularly crazy about the income tax return you file with your CPA each year,
because all it tells them is that your business is legitimate. They are more interested in your
monthly Statement of Cash Flow.
(f) To help identify those products or services that are profitable and those that are not.
(g) To help you avoid underpricing and over-pricing your products or services.
(h) To help you budget and determine salaries, benefits and expenses.
(i) To help identify your business strengths and weaknesses.
(j) To help you benchmark [or compare] your business or organization with competitors.
(k) For Religious Houses and other non-profits- To ensure transparency and accountability in
leadership, and to assure your donors that their donations are properly managed and spent on
the intended causes.
